These are the terms for using Tandem North and Tandem One ("the service"). They're written to be read — no legalese. The shape of the deal: we provide a tool, you use it; you own your data, we don't; you can leave anytime; we don't lock you in.

What the service is

Tandem North LLC ("we", "us") provides Tandem One — a personal AI that connects to your inbox, calendar, and contacts (with your explicit permission) and helps you see who's in your day, find what matters, and draft thoughtful replies. We never send on your behalf without you hitting Send. We never look at things you've marked sensitive. Full details in our Privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

Who can use Tandem One

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You must agree to these terms and to the Privacy statement.
• During early access, use is invite-only. We'll tell you when we open it up.
• You must use the service for lawful purposes, in compliance with all applicable laws.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login email and any session you've started private. If you think your account has been accessed without your permission, write us at hello@tandemnorth.ai and we'll lock it.

You can close your account anytime. If you do, we delete your encrypted data within 30 days. If you want a copy first, hit "Export my data" in Settings before you go.

Your data — yours, always

You own everything you connect to Tandem One. Connecting an account doesn't transfer ownership of anything. We process it on your behalf to provide the service, that's it.

Specifically:

• Your data is never sold, traded, or used to train AI models.
• You can export the complete contents of your Tandem One tenant as JSON at any time, with no friction.
• You can disconnect any source at any time. We purge its tokens immediately and short-term excerpts within 24 hours.
• If we ever shut down or transfer the service, we'll give you advance notice with enough time to export — and we will not transfer your data to a buyer without your explicit, informed consent.

How we handle Google data, specifically

For Google accounts you connect, Tandem North's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The full data handling explanation is in the Privacy statement.

What you can't do

• Use Tandem One to harass, defraud, threaten, or otherwise harm anyone.
• Use Tandem One to send unsolicited bulk messaging ("spam"), even if you draft and copy manually.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer the service, scrape it, or interfere with how it works for other users.
• Use someone else's account without their explicit, ongoing consent.
• Use Tandem One to violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.

If you do, we may suspend or close your account. Where it's safe to do so, we'll tell you what happened first.

The AI bit, honest version

Tandem One uses Anthropic's Claude model to generate briefings and reply drafts. AI output can be wrong, awkward, or surprising. You're the editor. Read what Tandem suggests before you act on it. We're not responsible for the consequences of you sending a draft you didn't read carefully.

Anything you've marked vulnerable never goes to the AI at all. The firewall is in code, not just promise.

Beta and early access

During early access, Tandem One is provided "as is." Things may break, performance may vary, features may change. We'll do our best to keep it running, but we don't offer an uptime guarantee at this stage. If something significant breaks, we'll tell you — and we'll keep working on it.

Pricing

Tandem One is free during early access. When we add paid plans, we'll tell you in advance and you'll have the choice to continue, switch tiers, or export and leave. We'll never charge you for something you didn't explicitly agree to.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tandem North LLC, its officers, employees, agents, and affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, even if we were warned of the possibility. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $100 USD.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tandem North LLC from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the service in violation of these terms or applicable law.

If we change these terms

We'll tell you the next time you log in and ask you to accept the new version. The old version stays in your activity log so you can always see what you agreed to. If you don't accept the new terms, you can export your data and close your account — no penalty.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved through good-faith conversation will be resolved by binding arbitration in El Dorado County, California, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property infringement.
